Overall, Apparance helped a small team to rapidly prototype the large data-driven city concept, and efficiently wield huge amounts of geometry within Unity. 💡 Procedurally-Generated Lightmaps: Custom Unity lighting system developed to generate lightmaps from procedurally placed light sources for immersive street scenes. 🚗 Cars & Headlights: Shader-based cars and headlights contribute to a lifelike urban environment. 🪟 Window Construction & Variation: Shader-based procedures produces diverse window designs for each building.
🏠 On-Demand Roof-Top Clutter: Procedural generation adds lifelike clutter to rooftops when they come into view, enhancing realism. 🔍Level of Detail (LOD): Unity scripts developed to adjusts LODs based on distance, optimizing performance without sacrificing visual quality. 🌐 Open Streetmap Data: Custom tooling developed that enabled Apparance procedures to reconstruct buildings from Open Streetmap data, accurately merging virtual and physical worlds.
